Introduction

Amethyst Surveys are proud to have been commissioned to conduct a comprehensive utility survey of development areas at Northampton Hospital. The purpose of the survey was to identify and locate any buried services within the planned areas of works. The survey was urgently required for the development of new car parking areas to alleviate current parking constraints. Delivery of the survey drawings to a tight deadline allowed construction to proceed safely and efficiently.

The Survey

The Hospital is a busy site with complex infrastructure with a mix of older and recently established utility networks. The Amethyst survey team carried out the survey using the latest electromagnetic locating (EML) and ground penetrating radar (GPR) technology.

Prior to leaving site the surveyors met with the client to walk over the site and discuss the findings. Several live services were identified ranging from high voltage lines to foul and surface water drainage. The client was unaware and surprised to discover that a gas main existed within the construction area.

The Results

The survey data was then processed back at our Rugby office and the CAD survey plans produced. Our skilled team were very happy to complete the survey and issue the results, delivering to the tight deadline. By utilizing up to date survey techniques and technology, we provided highly accurate and detailed data, enabling the client to confidently move forward with their redevelopment plans

Upon completing the survey our team headed back to the Rugby office to begin the processing of the collected data. Once complete, the survey identified and located the accurate position and depth of all utility services.

If you have a project where you need to break-ground, please contact us and we would be happy to discuss your project and provide a tailored survey solution.
