Introduction: Telehouse is a provider of industry-leading data colocation services with data centres across the globe in various locations. The London data centre, Telehouse North opened in 1990 and was the first purpose-built colocation data centre in Europe. Their global coverage of carrier dense data centres have resulted in Telehouse being one of the most established colocation data centre providers in Europe. Telehouse London Docklands was the first and remains the primary home of LINX, the London Internet Exchange. In August 2020, Telehouse International Corporation of Europe, announced their plan to expand its London data centre campus with the creation of a new data centre. With the planned expansion and associated construction works comes the requirement to know and understand the exact locations of all underground services. This is where our highly trained and experienced survey teams come in.
The Survey:

We were instructed by our client to undertake a highly detailed, full 3D PAS128 utility mapping, and modelling survey of the existing Underground services.

During the time of the survey the site was being controlled by a major UK contractor. The site is a complex web of underground data cables and being an active construction site with various teams undertaking different tasks, the survey had to undertaken with a focus on site rules and site safety.

All the site teams at Amethyst Surveys are highly experienced in working on active constructions sites, and alongside other Contractors when needed. Our survey teams are all highly trained in Health & Safety, First Aid and CSCS.

The Results:

The survey results were issued as a full 3D model of all the underground services and provided in Revit format. This enables the client to excavate safely or to plan where new services can be installed, without interfering with the existing services and infrastructure.
