As the client faced a tight deadline with the football season approaching, it was crucial to complete the utility survey quickly and without disruption. Marshgate Lane plays a significant role in the traffic flow around the London Stadium, making the installation of traffic-calming measures a priority for both pedestrian safety and event management. The underground utility survey’s findings would inform the client with the design and placement of these measures while ensuring no existing underground services were damaged during the construction process. 

The Survey: 

Amethyst Surveys was tasked with identifying all underground services within specified areas of a major access road near the London Stadium. Given the time constraints, our team needed to complete the survey swiftly to ensure the client’s deadlines were met without compromising safety. To ensure safe working practices, the survey was carried out with temporary traffic management in place. 

Our survey team were equipped with the latest electromagnetic locating (EML) and ground penetrating radar (GPR) technology to complete the survey with both accuracy and efficiency. In addition, the client requested that our team mark the ground with permanent spray paint to visually indicate the location of the buried services. This helped streamline decision-making by providing a clear, on-site reference for the client’s team. Once the utility survey was completed, our team conducted a detailed walk-through with the site contact to clearly explain the findings. 

The Results: 

Once the survey data had been collected and returned to the office, our experienced surveyors collaborated closely with the CAD team to process the information and produce detailed, accurate survey drawings. This ensured that final deliverables were prepared swiftly while maintaining the high quality and precision that Amethyst Surveys is known for.
